At the MWC 2022, HTC VIVE unveiled many new innovations, including updates on its 5G advances, in-car VR-based entertainment, location-based entertainment, as well as the latest updates to the HTC’s vision of the metaverse, the Viverse.

HTC’s vision of the metaverse – the Viverse

HTC defines the Viverse as an open metaverse platform that offers immersive, boundless universe of fantastic new experiences for its users.

HTC teamed up with Holoride to bring VR entertainment to car passengers. It showed a demo of its Vive Flow immersive VR glasses using Holoride’s immersive technology platform. HTC Vive and Holoride are showcasing their ride-ready glasses and in-car VR experience to select guests at MWC 2022 with a drive around Barcelona. I enjoyed the demo of the Vive Flow immersive VR glasses using Holoride’s immersive technology platform.

What I really loved about Cher Wang’s vision for the Viverse is of immersive experiences coming to the fore, while the underpinning tech gets relegated to the background.

5G Advances

HTC said it is unveiling its latest portable private 5G solution — the Reign Foundation — working closely with new HTC subsidiary, G-Reign, and in collaboration with Supermicro. The Reign Core 5G solution is compact and highly portable, and played a starring role as live video from radio-controlled cars was delivered to drivers who were sat facing monitors away from the race track, with them making real-time steering adjustments over 5G.
